WHO ARE THE 118TH?
The 118th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry is a UK-based American Civil War re-enactment and living history group, as part of the American Civil War Society (A.C.W.S)
MORE THAN A HOBBY
We are a group of people from all walks of life united by a passion for history and the American Civil War. Each summer we step back in time to the 1860's, recreating the experience of Federal soldiers through re-enactments, living history and historical research.
It's not just about battles - it's about life in camp, the friendships forged, the challenges faced and the everyday experiences of soldiers and civilians during a defining period in history.
LIVING HISTORY
We recreate the sights, smells, sounds and everyday life of soldiers and civilians in 1860's America. From camp life and cooking, to drill, weapons and period music - we do it all!
HISTORICAL REASEARCH
Accurate portrayal is at the heart of what we do. We research uniforms, equipment, drill, events and the history of the 118th Pennsylvania Infantry.
RE-ENACTMENT
We attend events all over the UK throughout the summer, as part of the American Civil War Society, taking part in battles, skirmishes and displays for the public to enjoy.

From cooking over the fires to writing letters home, experience life in a Civil War encampment - and yes, we really do sleep in those tents!

Music, games, stories and daily routines that bring the 1860s to life for visitors of all ages.
